Job summary

Hanover is seeking an IT Services Consultancy Engagement Manager to lead client engagements in the UK Government Public Sector. You will manage deliverables, budgets and risk while coordinating a team of IT consultants.

The role is primarily remote with occasional travel to client sites across the UK; we value strong leadership, strategic thinking and excellent client communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of IT consultancy experience with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
• Experience delivering digital projects for government or public sector is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary point of contact for UK Government clients and ensure their needs are met.
• Define project deliverables and milestones; oversee multiple IT consultancy projects to stay on time, scope and budget.
• Build and maintain long-lasting client relationships and manage expectations.
• Develop strategies to increase efficiency and effectiveness of consultancy services.
• Proactively address risks, resolve issues and implement solutions as they arise.
• Allocate resources and lead a team of IT consultants toward successful delivery.
• Monitor budgets and provide regular reporting to senior management and clients.
• Lead and mentor team members to foster a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced IT Services Consultancy Engagement Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT consultancy, a proven track record of managing client engagements in UK Government Public Sector, and exceptional communication and leadership skills. Although most of the work is based at home, there will be travel to client sites throughout the UK as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Client Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
• Project Management: Define and agree project deliverables and milestones. Oversee the delivery of multiple IT consultancy projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
• Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships.
• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of consultancy services.
• Risk Mitigation: Proactively address challenges, resolve issues, and implement solutions.
• Resource Allocation: Allocate resources appropriately to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of IT consultants, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
• Financial Management: Monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
• Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to senior management and clients on project status and performance.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT consultancy or a related field, with at least 2 years in a managerial role. Preferably with experience of delivering digital projects within Central Government.

Skills:

• Strong project management skills and experience with project management tools.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL).

Certifications: PMP, PRINCE2, Agile or similar project management certification is preferred.

Other:

• Willingness to travel as required by client engagements.
• Eligibility for SC security clearance if required.
