At the RSPCA, we believe animal welfare is everyone's welfare. Join us in creating a better world for every animal. We can do it if we work together — everyone for every animal. Choose a career with us and make a difference.

We are looking for a new team member to join us as an Engagement and Innovation Manager.

Working hours: 35 hours / Monday – Friday

Location: This is a hybrid role, primarily remote-based with the expectation to attend occasional meetings in London or Horsham.

Contract: 12-month fixed-term maternity cover.

What a day might look like for you

Do you have a passion for innovation and a talent for turning ideas into meaningful results?

As our Engagement Innovation Manager, you'll help shape how the RSPCA engages with supporters and new audiences, developing innovative opportunities that generate income and ultimately help us create a better world for animals.

You'll lead the innovation pipeline, using audience insight, supporter needs and emerging market trends to identify new opportunities. From developing new products and channels to improving existing services and supporter experiences, you'll help turn great ideas into solutions that deliver real impact.

This is a highly collaborative role. You'll work across teams and directorates to bring people together, challenge thinking and create a culture where innovation can thrive. You'll provide expert advice on innovation approaches, from research and ideation through to prototyping and delivery, ensuring new ideas are tested, developed and focused on what matters most to our supporters and the animals we exist to protect.

You'll also influence senior stakeholders and work with colleagues across the Society to ensure innovation is embedded into our future plans.

For more information please see the job description attached to this advert.

What will help you succeed in this role:

We're looking for someone who is strategic, curious and confident in turning ideas into action. You'll be comfortable challenging existing ways of working, spotting opportunities and bringing people with you.

You’ll have:

  • Experience of delivering innovation projects, ideally within fundraising, marketing, customer engagement or a similar environment.
  • A strong understanding of fundraising products and channels and how these can meet customer needs and encourage supporters to dedicate time to help animals, share their voice on behalf of animals or generate income.
  • Experience of developing and delivering strategies and products using innovation techniques.
  • Experience of delivering large-scale projects that meet organisational objectives and success criteria.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • An understanding of market analysis, marketing and fundraising.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
  • The ability to work autonomously while building strong relationships across teams.
  • Experience of line management.
  • Resilience, determination and diplomacy, with the ability to manage competing priorities and navigate complex situations.
  • Ability to foster an inclusive culture of innovation within an organisation
  • Ability to uphold the RSPCA's organisational values and behaviours

Successful candidates for certain RSPCA roles may need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK as we are unable to sponsor visas.

Final note from us & good luck with your application!

We want to ensure we do all we can to give you a positive candidate experience through our recruitment. Whilst we do try to give feedback where we can, sometimes due to receiving high levels of applications, this may not always be possible

Our vision is a world where all animals are respected and treated with kindness and compassion. Our purpose is to inspire everyone to create a better world for animals. We are building the future of a diverse Society, and our priority is to support animal welfare by finding people from all backgrounds who are committed to our purpose. For this reason we actively encourage a wide diversity of applications - in particular from members of minority ethnic groups, and people with disabilities - as these candidates are currently under-represented at the RSPCA.

We're here to support you and encourage you to let us know if you need any adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process. Please feel free to contact us at resourcingteam@rspca.org.uk or 0300 123 0685 so we can ensure the process works for you.
