Job summary

Era4 is seeking a Power Trading, Energy Analytics & Optimisation Specialist to drive energy trading, forecasting, and asset optimisation across the UK portfolio. You will manage short-term trading, forward pricing, and market risk while advancing analytics and AI-enabled decision support.

You will liaise with senior stakeholders, validate data, and develop pricing/forecasting models, contributing to governance and continuous improvement in a mission-driven scale-up environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in an energy or commodities trading environment.
• Experience trading power, including import and export positions.
• Strong understanding of short-term trading, imbalance management, and optimisation.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets.
• Ability to communicate complex information to senior and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with flexible assets or generation portfolios.
• Programming or advanced analytics skills (Python, SQL, VBA).
• Interest in applying AI and machine learning to trading and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Execute short-term trading and imbalance management strategies.
• Forecast forward power prices and support import and export trading decisions.
• Optimise flexible assets across OTC, balancing, and ancillary services markets.
• Monitor market conditions and adjust positions to manage risk and maximise value.
• Analyse market data to support trading and optimisation.
• Validate operational data to support the finance team.
• Develop and maintain pricing, forecasting, and asset optimisation models.
• Contribute to the use of AI as a decision-support tool for forecasting and analytics.
• Produce clear reporting on trading performance, imbalance costs, and optimisation outcomes.
• Provide insight to senior leadership and the wider business.
• Act as a key interface between the Energy team and operational asset teams.
• Ensure compliance with trading governance and regulatory requirements.
• Support contract review and negotiation for power and energy agreements.
• Assess charging structures and tariffs to optimise commercial outcomes.
• Support wider business activities including forward strategy, systems, and data.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and development within the team.
