Job Description:

As the first overseas subsidiary of BYD group, our main focus is to provide European customers with new energy vehicles, rechargeable batteries, solar panels, energy storage systems and other new energy products, as well as related after-sales services.

About the role

Engineers required for the entire UK region.

BYD is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to cover various energy storage site locations across the UK. This role reports to the UK Regional Aftersales Manager. The Technical Support Engineer will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, warranty repairs, and commissioning activities on BYD energy storage units at various client locations within the UK.

Tasks & Typical duties/responsibilities:

• Maintain BYD Energy Storage Systems through annual PPM checks, capacity tests, and reactive works.
• Always work safely and responsibly.
• Provide phone support and remote diagnostics to customers.
• Complete administrative duties such as timesheets, vehicle checks, and daily job logs.
• Troubleshoot equipment at customer sites.
• Perform start-up and commissioning services (SAT).
• Assist in product development and project work with the engineering team.
• Suggest improvements based on field experience.
• Provide customer training at BYD and customer facilities as needed.
• Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 or higher in electrical/electromechanical disciplines.
• Previous electrical or multi-skilled maintenance experience.
• Valid full UK driving license (manual).
• Basic IT skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, troubleshooting software).
• CSCS card required for on-site work.
• Right to Work in the UK.

Additional Experience (not essential):

• C&G 2391-5 Test & Inspect or equivalent.
• BS7671 18th Edition.
• HVAC training and F-Gas qualification.
• Knowledge of IT networking, CMD, remote desktop, MODBUS/TCP protocols.
• Understanding of power electronics, inverters, converters, PLCs.
• Second language (Mandarin/Cantonese/Xiang) is a plus.

Other requirements:

• Travel to various sites with possible overnight stays.
