Job Description:
Your mission

This is a first-class opportunity to join Sungrow Power EMEA as a principal engineer, specialising in Battery Energy Storage System to join our ESS technical team based in the United Kingdom. As a principal engineer, you will focus on technical design and ESS customized solution proposals to support the delivery of energy storage projects, primarily battery energy storage systems (BESS). You will take a leading role in supporting Sungrow's ESS European market development and also support solar PV, wind, and other renewable energy projects for the group.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and performing high-quality technical advisory work for pre-sales activities
  • Project management and interfacing between engineering disciplines (ESS electrical, mechanical, civil, control schemes)
  • Providing technical input from initial assessment through to technical and economic feasibility, including integration with other electrical or generating plants
  • Reviewing project conceptual and detailed designs, suggesting technical and design improvements
  • Preparing and managing specifications, tendering, negotiation, and selection of battery storage systems
  • Conducting due diligence on ESS projects and supporting customers and lenders through the financial close process, including technical liaison with legal and financial advisors
  • Knowledge of renewable generation utility network connection quality studies and PCS dynamic performance approval processes is advantageous
  • Establishing ESS technical specifications according to European regulations and international standards (IEC/IEEE)
Your profile

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent (preferably electrical)
  • Experience with BESS technology, ideally with UK and European projects
  • In-depth knowledge and field expertise in BESS technologies, including emerging technologies and international markets
  • Technical advisory experience for investors and project developers, including BESS plant design support
  • Experience in developing and delivering international solar PV or hybrid projects
  • Proven experience in technical review and communication with clients and project parties (utilities, EPC, etc.)
  • English proficiency at C1 level or higher; additional languages are a plus
