Your mission

This is a first-class opportunity to join Sungrow Power EMEA as a principal engineer, specialising in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to support our ESS technical team based in the United Kingdom. As a principal engineer, you will focus on technical design, developing customized ESS solutions, and supporting the delivery of energy storage projects, primarily BESS, in the European market. You will also support solar PV, wind, and other renewable energy projects for the group.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing high-quality technical advisory services for pre-sales activities
• Project management and coordination between engineering disciplines (electric, mechanical, civil, control schemes)
• Assessing technical and economic feasibility of projects and their integration with other energy sources
• Reviewing and improving project designs and specifications
• Managing specifications, tendering, negotiations, and selection of battery storage systems
• Conducting due diligence and supporting clients and lenders through financial closing, including liaising with legal and financial advisors
• Knowledge of utility network connection studies and PCS performance approval processes is advantageous
• Establishing ESS technical specifications in compliance with European regulations and international standards (IEC/IEEE)

Your profile

We are looking for candidates with:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably electrical) or equivalent
• Experience with BESS technology, ideally with both UK and European exposure
• Deep knowledge of BESS technologies, including emerging trends and international markets
• Experience in technical advisory roles for investors and project developers, with a focus on BESS plant design
• Experience in developing and delivering solar PV or hybrid projects internationally
• Proven ability to communicate technical reviews effectively with clients and project stakeholders (utilities, EPCs, etc.)
• English proficiency at C1 level or higher; additional languages are a plus
