Our Energy Markets Graduate Programme is designed for graduates who want to develop commercial expertise while making a real impact from day one. Over two years, you'll build a broad understanding of energy markets, gain hands‑on experience across the business and develop the skills needed for a long‑term career within Energy Markets.

  • Market Analysis & Energy Economics

  • Weather & Forecasting

Alongside real business experience, you'll benefit from mentoring, structured development opportunities and support from experienced colleagues across Energy Markets.

Following successful completion of the programme, you'll have the opportunity to progress into a role within our Front Office or Middle Office teams, helping to optimise assets, manage risk, analyse markets and support commercial decision‑making across SSE's energy portfolio.

What we're looking for

You’ll have a minimum of a 2:2 honours degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Meteorology or another relevant analytical discipline.

We're looking for graduates who are excited by the opportunity to develop commercial expertise while helping shape the future of energy. You’ll likely be someone who:

  • Enjoys analysing information, solving complex problems and using data to support commercial decision‑making.
  • Has a genuine interest in energy markets, trading, commercial operations, risk management or data‑driven insights.
  • Is curious, adaptable and motivated to learn, develop new skills and explore new challenges in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Works well with others, building positive relationships and bringing different perspectives together to achieve shared goals.
