Job summary

Amey Consulting is seeking a permanent Energy Manager to lead energy management solutions within our Advisory team focused on Energy Transition & Sustainability. You will work under the head of energy management to deliver technically sound projects for clients.

The role involves scalable responsibilities, including supervising juniors, liaising with clients, and contributing to bids. Hybrid, part-time and flexible patterns are discussed across our UK offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
• Ownership of the preparation and checking of deliverables and ability to supervise juniors.
• Strong working knowledge of relevant software and analytical tools.
• Good commercial awareness and understanding of contractors’ services.

Responsibilities

• Produce technically sound energy management solutions for clients while meeting standards and client requirements.
• Oversee deliverables for quality, cost and programme, and mentor junior staff.
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives and attend progress meetings.
• Assist in bids and work-winning activities for projects.
• Work on site as needed, with occasional out-of-hours requirements.

The Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Energy Manager to join our Consulting Advisory team covering Energy Transition & Sustainability.

The role

Working under the general direction of the head of energy management, you will provide technically sound solutions for your assigned clients in relation to any and all areas of energy management within our clients’ goals.. Responsibilities include:

• To work in a team, producing technically sound energy management solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, working unsupervised and supporting colleagues on other contracts where necessary
• The preparation and checking of scheme deliverables that satisfy the overarching criteria of quality, cost and programme. Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions
• Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, responding to queries etc.
• Contributing to the preparation of bids and the general work winning function
• Working on site, either on a visiting basis or in a full time but temporary role and including limited out of hours working and only when absolutely necessary

What you will bring to us:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in an appropriate subject or equivalent experience and knowledge skills
• Applies energy management theory and principles to clearly understood situations, where concepts are matched to problems
• Takes ownership for the preparation and checking of deliverables and is fully capable of working unsupervised and supervising more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks. Can check deliverables to a reasonable standard and takes ownership for this
• Very good working knowledge of relevant software and similar analytical tools
• Demonstrates good commercial awareness
• Has very good knowledge of contractors and types of services they provide
• Good oral communicator who is able to present arguments and ideas well
• Has a good understanding of risk assessment. Experienced in the management and communication of hazards and risks on projects and ensures appropriate risk mitigation and transference has been applied
• Demonstrates a good understanding of Building management systems (BMS) and can manipulate and handle all energy data (including half hourly data)
