Job description

The Energy Efficiency Engineer is responsible for delivering the technical analysis and understanding of the initiatives required to support the improvement in Energy Efficiency. You will work closely with ship staff & shore-based stakeholders to ensure an accurate understanding of the current energy baseline is developed. You will advise and lead on the effective changes required to the operation of our ships relating to fuel consumption and energy efficiency.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  1. Support and manage projects related to energy efficiency on board all ships of the fleet, with a particular focus on Hotel Energy Management.
  2. Support the Energy Efficiency Department in selecting the best technological solutions to be installed both on board ships and in the terminals related to renewable energy sources.
  3. Advise and lead necessary operational changes of existing ships, including but not limited to fuel consumption performance and energy efficiency projects.
  4. Assist in planning, preparation, and project management for Hotel Energy Management, including establishing and understanding an energy consumption baseline.
  5. Utilize this baseline and current performance analytical tools to identify and decide on the most appropriate energy efficiency initiatives.
  6. Collaborate with other departments to monitor, analyze, and report fleet performance related to fuel consumption optimization.
  7. Fluent in English, verbal and written; additional languages are a benefit.
  8. Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Energy Engineering or a similar technical discipline.
  9. Possess at least 3 years of relevant experience as an Energy Engineer, preferably in the maritime sector.
  10. Have knowledge of medium and low voltage electricity generation and regulation systems, and energy storage systems.
  11. Be familiar with converters, control drivers, shore connection plants, and maritime/port sector standards.
  12. Understand the structure and implications of Flag State, USCG, and IMO rules and regulations related to energy efficiency and carbon consumption.
  13. Experience in analytics to support technical decision-making.
  14. Experience in budget management and project management for technical project delivery.

The existing right to work in the UK is preferred.
