A leading energy services company in St Albans is seeking an Energy Data Analyst to analyze utility data and support energy cost recovery audits. This role requires strong analytical and Excel skills, as well as excellent attention to detail. Overview
We are looking for a motivated and detail-focused Energy Data Analyst to support the delivery of energy cost recovery audits and data-driven services for our clients. Reporting to the Energy Manager, you will play a key role in analysing energy usage and billing data, supporting the identification of cost-saving opportunities, and maintaining the quality and accuracy of data within our Energy Management System.
This role is ideal for someone with strong Excel skills, a keen eye for detail, and an interest in the energy and utilities sector.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyse utility consumption and billing data to identify inconsistencies, billing errors, and opportunities for cost recovery
• Support the delivery of energy cost recovery audits by preparing and validating large datasets
• Maintain and update data within our Energy Management System (such as SystemsLink or similar), ensuring completeness and accuracy
• Assist with the production of regular energy reports, dashboards, and client-facing insights
• Work collaboratively with other analysts and teams to ensure consistent data quality and reporting standards
• Help ensure clients stay compliant with regulatory and contractual requirements through accurate data handling
• Provide analytical support for internal stakeholders, including the Energy Manager, procurement team, and client account managers
• Stay up to date with relevant industry practices, data standards, and tools
Key Skills and Experience
Essential:
• Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including the use of pivot tables, lookups, and formulas
• Comfortable working with large datasets and multiple data sources
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage tasks to deadlines
• Clear and confident communication, both written and verbal
• Team player with a collaborative approach
Desirable:
• Experience working with an energy management platform (e.g. SystemsLink, Stark, Optima)
• Familiarity with utility billing, energy tariffs, or metering data
• Exposure to SECR or ESOS reporting would be a bonus, though not required
• Interest in energy efficiency, sustainability, or utilities
