Job description

Location: Hybrid / Abingdon, UK
job type: Permanent / Full-time
Sector and subsector: Energy | Renewable Energy
Salary: Negotiable salary

Conrad Energy is looking for a commercially minded and detail-oriented individual to join our growing energy supply business.

As an Energy Assurance Analyst, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate allocation, reconciliation and validation of costs and revenues across the energy supply business. You will focus on settlement assurance, industry charges, third-party invoice validation and financial controls, helping to ensure that every pound entering or leaving the business is correctly accounted for.

This is a hands-on operational role suited to someone with experience in an energy supply business who enjoys investigating issues, analysing data and driving resolutions. Your work will directly support profitability, operational efficiency and the integrity of our financial and settlement processes.

We are a rapidly growing business with a strong emphasis on developing talent in a relaxed and supportive environment, and all applicants receive training to further develop their knowledge and skills within the UK energy markets.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

About Conrad Energy Ltd

Our energy solutions directly address the energy trilemma (security, sustainability and affordability), enabling the UK’s transition to a low carbon economy. Each of our projects deliver critical power and services to the National Grid as well as industrial and commercial customers. Our expertise, technology and flexibility are key to the UK achieving its ambitious net zero targets.

Backed by I Squared Capital, a global investor in energy and infrastructure assets, we are the UK’s largest owner/operator of flexible power plants with 900MW in operation and over 1GW in early pipeline. Put into context, this means we could provide power for an hour to around 1.8 million homes already, with another 2 million homes in the pipeline.

From our beginnings in 2017 as a flexible gas generation business with a team of 14 people, we have grown to become one of the UK’s leading vertically integrated energy companies, owning and operating over 69 energy facilities across the UK. Our significant development pipeline covers flexible generation, battery energy storage, solar, hydrogen and stability services. Our innovative data driven, in-house automation tools give us a unique edge when trading and maximising our own assets and those of our clients. We have built not only an impressive portfolio of energy assets, but also a seriously ambitious and knowledgeable team.

The Role

  • Validate and reconcile industry settlement costs, revenues and adjustments.
  • Analyse and challenge third-party invoices, including DUoS, BSUoS, transmission and other industry charges.
  • Ensure accurate allocation of costs and revenues across E4B and other business units.
  • Investigate settlement discrepancies, billing variances and financial exceptions.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement solutions to prevent recurring issues.
  • Monitor financial controls and identify areas of revenue leakage or cost recovery opportunities.
  • Produce reporting and analysis on settlement performance, industry charges and financial exposures.
  • Support month-end reconciliation and finance processes.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure data accuracy and financial transparency.
  • Develop and maintain reconciliation models, reports and datasets.
  • Resolve settlement and invoice queries with external suppliers, agents and industry counterparties.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, controls and efficiency.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Experience analysing settlement data, industry charges or financial reconciliations.
  • Advanced Excel skills (data analysis, modelling and handling large datasets).
  • Experience working with data, including extraction, manipulation and analysis.
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and investigative skills.
  • Ability to communicate findings clearly and work effectively across teams.
  • Self-motivated with a hands-on approach to delivering results.
  • Experience working within a UK electricity or gas supply business.
  • Understanding of UK energy industry charging arrangements.
  • Knowledge of energy settlement processes and revenue assurance activities.
  • Experience using SQL or Python and familiarity with data visualisation tools such as Power BI.
  • Experience working with Elexon, settlement agents or metering service providers.
