Job summary

West Suffolk Council is recruiting its first Energy Apprentice to support the energy and sustainability programme while developing a Level 3 Energy Manager qualification. This is a hands-on role within the Energy Team, focused on decarbonisation projects and data analysis.

The apprenticeship offers paid study time, a structured learning path, and a celebration of continuous learning in a fast-paced, supportive environment. Starting salary is £10.85 per hour, with 37 hours per week, for 18 months.

Qualifications

• No work experience required but willingness to learn and GCSEs 9-4 in Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Strong communication and IT skills required.
• Eligible for apprenticeship and ready to commit to the programme.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Energy Team with decarbonisation projects (e.g., EV infrastructure, heat pumps, solar PV).
• Undertake technical, analytical and administrative tasks to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs.
• Handle customer enquiries and input data into IT systems; analyse data to show impact of work.
