A leading Rocket Propulsion Technology organization is seeking an Energetics Chemist to join their Energetics and Materials Team. The role involves research, development, and manufacturing of materials for extreme applications, with opportunities for training and skills enhancement. The ideal candidate will have a Chemistry degree and experience in a technical environment.

Working within the Energetics and Materials Team, you will be responsible for the research, development, clearance, and manufacture of materials and products to meet demanding requirements, including physical, chemical, thermal, mechanical, and ballistic properties under extreme conditions of temperature, pressure, vibration.

Candidates will attend specialist training courses and conferences to develop expertise, alongside on-the-job training to develop necessary skills and competences.

Technical Responsibilities - Energetics Chemist

  • Developing and monitoring propellant to meet energy, mechanical, and ballistic requirements.
  • Improving, driving efficiencies, and standardizing manufacturing processes.
  • Qualifying propellant and materials according to defence and internal standards.
  • Managing materials (stocks, quality, performance, legislation) to meet strict design requirements.
  • Supporting, monitoring, and improving manufacturing processes.
  • Qualifying materials for manufacturing clearance.
  • Researching and testing materials using known and novel processing methods, including mixing technology.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Chemistry.
  • Genuine interest and aptitude in chemistry/material science, with high self-motivation.
  • Significant practical experience in a disciplined/technical manufacturing, process, or lab environment.
