Working within the Energetics and Materials Team, you will be responsible for researching, developing, and manufacturing materials and products to meet demanding requirements, including physical, chemical, thermal, mechanical, and ballistic properties under extreme conditions of temperature, pressure, and vibration.

Candidates will attend specialist training courses and conferences to develop their expertise, alongside on-the-job training to acquire necessary skills and competencies.

Technical Responsibilities - Energetics Chemist

• Developing and monitoring propellants to meet energy, mechanical, and ballistic requirements.
• Improving, driving efficiencies, and standardising manufacturing processes.
• Qualifying propellants and materials according to defence and internal standards.
• Managing materials (stocks, quality, performance, legislation) to meet strict design requirements.
• Supporting, monitoring, and improving manufacturing processes.
• Qualifying materials for manufacturing.
• Clearing ingredients and finished materials for manufacturing.
• Researching and testing materials using known and novel processing methods, including mixing technology.

Requirements:

• Degree in Chemistry.
• Interest and aptitude in chemistry/material science, with high self-motivation.
• Significant practical experience in a disciplined/technical manufacturing, process, or lab environment.
