Job summary

University of Cambridge’s University Information Services (UIS) seeks an Endpoint Specialist to join the University Managed Desktop team. You will package applications, deploy configurations and develop new features for Windows and macOS devices to enable staff and students to work securely and productively.

You will implement automated services at scale, develop procedures for support teams and advise on platform-specific needs across UIS services.

Qualifications

  • Good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills deploying.
  • Experience of managing Windows devices at scale is desirable.
  • Experience integrating scripts with APIs (Microsoft Graph API advantageous).

The role

The Endpoint Specialist will join a team providing managed Windows & macOS devices as part of the University Managed Desktop to enable staff and students to work in a secure and productive manner in alignment with the University's digital aims. You'll get the chance to collaborate and interact with some of the finest minds in the world, sharing data, insight and expertise to make a meaningful difference to the University's success while using best practice tooling and methodologies.

What you will do
  • Contribute to the University Managed Desktop service, packaging applications, deploying configurations and developing new features.
  • Implement and maintain automated services at scale.
  • Develop and document procedures for supporting teams.
  • Work with UMD customers within the University to ensure the University Managed Desktop aligns with a wide range of requirements.
  • Provide platform specific technical advice to support other UIS services.
What you will need
  • Experience of managing Windows devices at scale, preferably using Microsoft cloud technologies.
  • Good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills deploying.
  • Proven ability to work in a diverse environment with complex requirements.
  • Ability to use PowerShell scripting for task automation and system management is desirable.
  • Experience of integrating scripts with APIs, with Microsoft Graph API being highly advantageous.

This position is a permanent, full-time role, currently based on the University's West Cambridge Site. University Information Services will be moving to new accommodation on Brooklands Avenue in March 2027. The nature of this post requires attendance at the office of a minimum of one day a week, sometimes more depending on work requirements.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a security check.
