Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to provide an efficient and high-quality ward-based clerical service supporting staff responsible for inpatient care. Emphasis should be placed on confidentiality and efficiency; remaining calm, courteous, and professional at all times.

Main duties of the job
  1. Handle telephone calls and face-to-face enquiries from relatives, hospital staff, and members of the public.
  2. Use computer skills and other clerical activities to perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.
  3. Be responsible for any information entered onto the computer during duties required by the Trust.
  4. Ensure all case notes are kept in good condition in accordance with trust procedures.
  5. Keep notes tidy at all times and photocopy relevant Trust documentation to ensure adequate supply for ward use.
  6. File investigation results and other documentation in patients' case notes according to Trust policy.
  7. Record all ward attendances by patients following strict procedural guidelines laid down by the Trust.
  8. Book appointments on the hospital patient administration system as required.
  9. Undertake mandatory training annually.
  10. Attend annual staff development reviews to identify and plan training and development needs.
  11. Ensure regular attendance at team meetings.
  12. Manage daily email correspondence.
  13. Maintain stationary levels for ward use.
  14. Collate patient information as per Trust policy.
  15. Record statistical data as required.
  16. Maintain good relationships, communication, and teamwork with all disciplines within the ward/department.
