Endoscopy Staff Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Registered nurse to join the John Radcliffe Endoscopy and become part of an evolving and innovative team.

Whether you are an existing Band 5 who wishes to have a career change and want to work in a more specialist area of nursing and have further career development, or if you are a Student Nurse who is due to qualify in the next couple of months.

We can offer you a training program where you will be fully supported by our Clinical Education Team and other senior staff during a 2-month supernumerary period, so you can reach your level of competence to work independently as an Endoscopy Nurse in diagnostics. There are also opportunities for development in therapeutic procedures.

The JR Endoscopy unit has 6 procedure rooms and prides itself on pioneering new ideas, being a Centre for Excellence in diagnostic and cutting-edge therapeutic endoscopy, with ongoing research, development, and education.

You will be part of a friendly, enthusiastic, and encouraging team in a happy working environment.

Applicants must have a full UK Nursing Midwifery Council Registration.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide high standards of nursing care within the Endoscopy Department.
  • Assess, monitor, and support patients undergoing endoscopy.
  • Assist the Endoscopist during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding procedures and aftercare.
  • Ensure patient safety, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Administer drugs in accordance with trust policy.
  • Demonstrate technical competence in endoscopic procedures.
  • Maintain and manage endoscopes and accessories safely.
  • Adhere to NMC Code of Conduct and practice within scope.
Person Specification
  • Registered Nurse (part 1, 8, 12, or 15 of register depending on practice area).
  • Knowledge of high-standard patient care.
  • Educated to diploma/degree level.
  • Experience and skills relevant to the specialty.
