Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Service Manager to oversee the Endoscopy Scheduling function. The role includes managing staff, leading quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with JAG accreditation. This role will manage the Endoscopy Scheduling function and take a lead role on behalf of the service in demonstrating ongoing compliance with JAG accreditation. They will be responsible for the first line management of Endoscopy Reception & Administration staff, offering guidance, experience and advice, whilst developing a culture of collaborative working.
The successful post-holder will positively contribute to positive patient experience by supporting the Directorate’s performance and embedding efficient working practices. There is an expectation to provide leadership without direct supervision, by demonstrating initiative and sound judgement in managing deadlines, workloads & practices.
There is a requirement to lead by example, including by following Standard Operating Procedures while contributing towards Quality Improvement initiatives. A sound understanding of performance targets and the role of effective administration is essential. They will be responsible for planning, evidencing performance and escalating issues which may impact on service delivery for patients. Therefore, a natural ability to focus on patient experience is a must, while recognising the impact of their leadership on colleagues.

1.Lead, develop and maintain a working environment which encourages teamwork, mutual support and excellence in service delivery, reviewing all current functions and practices to ensure efficient and effective operational management and performance.
2.Build collaboration with relevant departments and individuals, including standards for verbal & written communication with staff and patients.
3.Liaise effectively with stakeholders to maintain continuity of information, including the sensitive and transparent handling of cancellations with patients & carers.
4.Line manage Scheduling staff, including work allocation & evaluation, while acting as a role model to inspire & encourage their development.
5.Chair monthly team meetings and support the coordination/administration of other meetings relating to Endoscopy.
6.Manage patient surveillance systems, processes and related administration, including audits and reporting.
7.Manage staff performance and coordinate provision of wellbeing, training, Capability and Occupational Health support.
8.Promote and lead a culture of improving access for patients, reducing waiting times and streamlining the patient journey, through administration processes are integrated with internal & external partners.
9.Develop and maintain processes and reports for management of patient targeted lists and other performance, according to national guidance.

The post holder will be expected to work flexibly to meet service needs, carrying out tasks unsupervised and collaboratively with other members of staff, tailoring their approach as needed. They will coordinate staffing of the Scheduling function and delegate daily supervision responsibilities, while ensuring all team members receive support to develop their skills & experience. The Service Manager will be visible and regularly review progress against long & short term objectives. Processes and standards may vary over time, as directed by National and Local bodies, i.e. the Endoscopy Users Group.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
