Job description
Overview

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic adaptable candidate to the role of Endoscopy Patient Pathway Officer to provide a high level of administrative support within the Endoscopy Department. The post holder will carry out a range of activities in support of Outpatients Clinics centralised services, providing efficient clinical administrative and clerical support in line with service requirements. A quality reception service for all users of the Outpatient-based services and the Trust is also part of the role. The post holder will possess transferable skills in all areas of clinical administrative and clerical functions to enable them to support the patient pathway and to increase resilience across the Clinical Administrative and Clerical services.

Responsibilities
  1. Booking in patients attending Endoscopy: book patients onto the computer system, ensure patient details are correct, provide necessary documentation for pre‑assessment appointments, and add patients to appropriate Endoscopy waiting lists.
  2. Aid the nursing staff in relevant non-clinical duties.
  3. Undertake a full range of administrative duties to meet service delivery priorities and commitments, including filing test results in patient notes, ensuring notes and referrals are available for day case procedures and pre‑assessment clinic.
  4. Respond to enquiries from staff, general practices, and the general public; provide non-clinical advice and information as appropriate.
  5. Maintain adequate stocks of stationery and promptly report any faulty equipment.
  6. Follow the policies and procedures of the Endoscopy Department.
  7. Make waiting lists and clinic appointments on the Electronic Patient Record System.
  8. Collect urgently requested medical notes.
Planning and Organization

Report any service or performance shortfalls to the Service Manager and work as part of the team to address and resolve issues.

Training Responsibilities
  • Ensure completion of mandatory training
  • Undertake any additional training as required
Organisation Context

North Mid is part of the North Central London integrated care system (ICS), consisting of NHS and Local Authority organisations in Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. The ICS collaborates with partners to meet shared financial and performance objectives. We are a training unit for medical students from UCL and St George’s University Grenada, and for nursing and midwifery students from Middlesex and City Universities.
