Job Title: Endoscopy Unit Clerk

The post holder will provide efficient, effective, and comprehensive clerical and administrative support to the Endoscopy Department in accordance with standard operating procedures and trust policies. This ensures patients requiring procedures within the department have their pathway managed efficiently and effectively.

About You

Are you a proactive, motivated individual who enjoys working in a challenging and busy Endoscopy unit?

We are looking to appoint an Endoscopy Unit Clerk to support the day-to-day running of the Endoscopy unit.

You should have proven patient care skills or experience in a patient/customer care-focused environment. You will need to work in a calm, logical, and methodical way, be able to multi-task amidst frequent interruptions, and possess effective communication skills. The ability to work well under pressure and be a key team player is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate the management and maintenance of inpatient/day case waiting lists according to the Patient Access Policy and Endoscopy Booking Policy.
  2. Book day cases and procedures within guidelines, ensuring national and local targets are met.
  3. Manage cancellations by replacing cases with like-for-like or within guidelines, considering waiting time targets.
  4. Instruct patients regarding medication stoppages and fasting requirements before procedures.
  5. Handle patient inquiries about cancellations, rescheduling, and holiday bookings.
  6. Contact patients to agree on convenient admission dates, in line with booked appointments.
