Job summary

Ember in Edinburgh is seeking a hands-on, growth-minded individual to expand our network of charging hubs. You’ll join a small hub team to source sites, navigate legal and planning steps, and drive the build and energisation of hubs across Scotland and the UK.

You’ll need an engineering mindset, curiosity, and a bias for action, balancing fieldwork with desk work. The role offers a hybrid pattern, with a central Edinburgh office and occasional site travel, plus share options.

Qualifications

• Curious and quick to learn; comfortable in unfamiliar territory and eager to learn from new specs, terms, and processes.
• Engineering mindset; detail-oriented approach to complex projects and technical topics.
• A first-principles thinker who learns from experts without outsourcing thinking.
• Highly organised; capable of managing pipelines with multiple timelines and stakeholders.
• Comfortable using AI as a tool to learn faster, draft documents, and improve accuracy.
• Hands-on; comfortable meeting landlords, electricians and reviewing on-site conditions.
• A strong sense of what good looks like and holding oneself to a high standard.

Responsibilities

• Grow Ember's network of charging hubs and lead sites end-to-end.
• Find sites, scout potential locations, and engage with agents, authorities, and landlords.
• Lead lease negotiations, design, planning applications, and power connections.
