Job Description:

Independent end-point assessor for Senior Healthcare Support Worker (Children and Young People’s Support) (Level 3)

Overview of the independent end-point assessor role

The government requires all apprenticeships to include an end-point assessment (EPA), which evaluates the Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours (KSBs) acquired during the apprenticeship. This ensures apprentices meet employer standards and are fully competent. Pearson provides confidence to employers that completing an apprenticeship indicates readiness for employment and consistent assessment across apprenticeships.

An independent EPA means the assessor has no conflict of interest and is impartial. They assess apprentices without involvement in their training or assessment during the on-programme phase. EPA activities can be onsite or remote, scheduled with employers. Assessors record and justify grading decisions, which are quality assured by Pearson.

Assessors will meet the occupational profile and be trained, standardized, and approved. They will conduct assessments following Pearson’s assessment plan and materials. Please see the Key Accountabilities and Person Specification below for details.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Participate in training and standardization activities
  • Maintain evidence of CPD
  • Assess candidates according to criteria and procedures
  • Follow Pearson’s protocols and quality assurance standards
  • Respond to EPA planning, operational activities, and report submissions
  • Report risks, issues, and suspected malpractice
  • Ensure high-quality assessment evidence and reports
  • Support Pearson with appeals if needed
  • Allow travel time for EPA arrangements
  • Raise conflicts of interest
  • Complete personal actions as required
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and external quality assurance
