Job Description:

Independent End Point Assessor - Mammography Associate

Overview: The Government requires all apprenticeships to include an end-point assessment (EPA) to evaluate the Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours (KSBs) acquired during the apprenticeship. Pearson ensures assessments are consistent and reliable, confirming that apprentices are fully job-ready.

An independent EPA involves assessors with no conflict of interest, who evaluate apprentices on-site based on predetermined criteria. Assessors will be trained, qualified, and approved, and will conduct assessments according to Pearson's materials and standards.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Participate in training and standardisation activities
  • Maintain evidence of CPD
  • Assess candidate performance per assessment criteria
  • Follow Pearson’s protocols and quality assurance processes
  • Respond to EPA planning and operational requests
  • Report risks, issues, and suspected malpractice
  • Ensure high-quality, accurate record-keeping
  • Support with appeals and conflict of interest disclosures
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and external quality assurance

Person Specification:

Occupational Profile: Mammography Associates perform routine and symptomatic mammography, working in multidisciplinary teams, with knowledge of breast anatomy, pathology, and radiation safety. They operate specialised equipment, produce high-quality images, and provide patient care under radiographer supervision.

Background and Experience (essential):

  • Competent in mammography
  • HCPC Registered
  • Currently working in NHS Breast Screening Programme
  • Possess PG Cert in education or equivalent
  • Current DBS certificate
  • Experience in meetings, interviews, and quality compliance
  • Committed to CPD

Additional requirements: UK-based candidates, available for at least two days per week for EPA activities.

Desirable:

  • Assessors or internal quality assurance qualification
  • Experience in grading judgments
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, legal, and regulatory frameworks
  • Technical knowledge of industry tools and standards
