Where you will be working

This posting is specifically for individuals who have applied and interviewed via Loughborough College for our Apprentice roles based at Encyclis Rookery South Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) and Newhurst Energy Recovery Facility (ERF).

Responsibilities
The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Mechanical Maintenance, EC&I and Process Apprentices to join our team at our cutting-edge Energy Recovery Facility (ERF). This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience while studying towards a nationally recognised engineering qualification. You will play a vital role in supporting the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operation of the facility whilst complying with all legislation, regulations and policies.

What we need from you…
Key Duties & Responsibilities of the role
  • Work alongside experienced individuals across Operations and Maintenance to gain hands on experience in this field.
  • Learn how an energy recovery facility operates and the processes that help it achieve its aim of circularity and sustainability.
  • Learn how to use Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for logging work and maintaining asset records.
  • Participate in engineering projects, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) standards at all times.
  • Attend college and training provider (TTE) as required, completing all coursework and assessments to progress through the apprenticeship.
  • Attend regular site visits and assessment days.
  • Promote and support the delivery of Encyclis’s Safety Rules and Safe Systems of Work, whilst working in accordance with all Approved Codes of Practice, Senior Management Instructions and Local Management Instructions (ACOP’s, SMI’s & LMI’s).
  • Reporting of any Health, Safety and Environmental unsafe conditions, accidents or incidents and supporting investigations as required.
  • Take ownership of plant cleanliness and ensure excellent standards of housekeeping are maintained.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • A genuine interest in engineering and sustainability.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and Science at grade 4/C or above (or predicted).
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn in a hands-on industrial environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Able to work safely and follow instructions.
