Job summary

Leicestershire Police, EMSOU Finance team, invites undergraduates to join a 10-month fixed-term placement to develop skills in data, reports and business insights.

Based at Annesley, Nottinghamshire, you will collect, interpret, and present information to support decision making while gaining hands-on experience assisting investigative work. Security clearance to SC/MV is required; interviews in January 2027; closing date 27 November 2026.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management.
• Ability to solve problems, manage time and prioritise workload.
• Experience delivering written reports and verbal briefings.
• SC/MV security clearance required prior to starting.

Turn your analytical skills into real world experience by joining the Finance team at East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) on a Fixed Term Contract for 10 months! This opportunity is open to current undergraduate students seeking a year in industry placement as part of their degree. An opportunity for you to gain hands on experience working with data, reports and business insights. You'll help gather, analyse and present information that supports key decisions across the organisation while developing valuable research and investigative skills.

What You’ll Be Doing

• You will assist in collecting, interpretating and reporting information to internal and external departments.
• You will produce comprehensive written reports detailing background research and provide structured conclusions.
• You will support EMSOU with new ideas, approaches and ways of working to advance our response to criminal activity.

The Must Haves

• You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline but not limited to Accounting, Finance, Business Management.
• You must be able to problem solve, make effective decisions & manage your time effectively to prioritise workload.
• You must have experience delivering written reports and verbal briefings.
• You will be required to be security cleared to SC/MV level prior to starting in this post.

You will be based at Annesley (Nottinghamshire). You may be required to undertake routine drug and alcohol testing in line with policy whilst employed at EMSOU.
