Job summary

New Directions Education in Leeds is seeking a caring Primary Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEN across a welcoming primary school setting.

You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, adapt activities to meet individual needs, and help pupils build confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with SEN in school or care settings.
  • Patient, empathetic and positive approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and adaptable in a busy classroom.
  • Genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with a range of additional needs.
  • Support children with ASC, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, learning disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities.
  • Adapt resources and teaching approaches to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours.
  • Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
