Job summary

Catering in Sheffield seeks a Learning Disability Support Worker to assist young people with learning disabilities in the community and their homes. The role emphasizes person-centred support, independence building, and daily living skills in a caring team.

The position requires PMVA training, 12 months experience, and a valid UK driving licence, with ongoing training and clear progression opportunities. Salary £14-£16 per hour, full-time contract position onsite in Sheffield.

Qualifications

• 12 months experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities or challenging behaviour.
• PMVA training or willing to complete training.
• Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills.
• Experience promoting independent living skills (routines, nutrition).
• Confident with digital care records and planning systems.
• Valid UK driving licence and access to vehicle.
• Eligible to work in the UK (Right to Work).
• NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People or Adults).

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support to young people with learning disabilities in homes and community.
• Plan and run structured activities to build independence and social confidence.
• Support with daily living skills including meals and routines.
• Apply PMVA techniques and de-escalation to manage behaviours.
• Keep accurate digital care notes, risk assessments and incident reports.
• Collaborate with families, carers and MDTs to achieve positive outcomes.
