Job summary

YAI in Clifton is seeking dedicated Direct Support professionals to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will help with daily living activities, healthcare coordination, and behavior support, ensuring a safe, respectful, and empowering environment.

Responsibilities include implementing individualized plans, documenting progress, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to promote quality of life and community integration for the people we support.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• HS diploma or its educational equivalent.
• Must hold or obtain and maintain valid Driver's License with no more than five (5) points.
• Ability to meet essential physical demands of position including frequent walking, sitting, standing, bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling and reaching with hands and arms.
• Effective written and oral communication skills including the ability to appropriately document services provided for billing and tracking purposes.

Responsibilities

• Assists individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities, while upholding their personal rights and providing emotional support.
• Supports people to meet personal goals and engages in respectful communications to build social connections.
• Ensures health, wellness and safety by supervising and managing crisis situations in accordance with policies and regulations.
• Provides support in various settings following individualized service plans and behavior support plans for people we support.
• Assists with activities of daily living and personal care, including toileting, hygiene, dressing, and meals as required.
