About the role:

  • Manage a caseload of service users in structured treatment for substance use who are motivated to start/return to work and deliver the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach, for which training will be provided.
  • Support clients in understanding their key skills, aspirations, and goals through completing a Vocational Profile, and develop an Action Plan to help them obtain and sustain employment. This includes assistance with job search, CV creation, application forms, interview techniques, and career development.
  • Assess client support needs related to work, which may include benefits/welfare advice and disclosure of mental health symptoms, providing support and guidance accordingly.
  • Establish positive and integrated relationships with clinical teams, employers, and other service providers.
  • Adhere to administrative and data protocols, recording individuals' progress and maintaining accurate casework records.
  • Implement relevant policies such as information governance and safeguarding.

About you:

  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
  • Experience or understanding of working with people with substance use support needs or similar client groups within health, social services, or the voluntary sector, or experience in employment services supporting people to obtain or retain work.
  • Understanding of employment challenges faced by those experiencing labor market exclusion.
  • Strong motivational, communication, and listening skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with diverse individuals.
  • Non-judgemental, trustworthy, and empathetic towards those with mental health support needs, with a passion to make a positive impact.
