Role Overview

The role of an Employment Specialist is to provide advice, guidance and 1:1 support for people with disabilities and/or health issues who require support to move into employment.

About You

You will have experience of working with people with disabilities and/or health issues and focus on moving closer to employment and achieving outcomes. Your communication skills will provide you with the ability to develop a range of close links with partnerships; including other GCC teams, welfare to work providers and employers; with the aim of increasing skills base, knowledge and the opportunities available.

Experience of working with a fidelity model eg: supported employment or Individual Placement and Support (IPS) is desirable but not essential as full training will be given. You must be customer focussed and ideally have knowledge of employment policies, procedures and welfare services; including the ability to develop your understanding of local labour-market demographics; enabling you to work with local employers to match their needs to the abilities of individuals.
