A local government authority in Gloucestershire seeks Employment Specialists to support individuals facing barriers to employment. Candidates should have experience building partnerships with stakeholders and possess excellent communication skills. Gloucestershire Employment and Skills Hub offers a one-stop source of information, advice, guidance and support around employment and skills. Working with a range of partners and employers in localities across Gloucestershire the Hub delivers 1:1 support through a number of programmes for people with barriers to sustaining or retaining work, as well as advice and signposting for any resident looking for help.
We are seeking several dedicated Employment Specialists to join our Connect to Work provision, supporting participants into paid employment. We welcome applicants with experience, skills, or lived experience of working with individuals who face health-related barriers, including (but not limited to) mental health conditions, autism, veterans, and ex-offenders.
You will be part of a team that is vibrant and diverse, so a passion for inclusive employment will be essential. This is an exciting role, and your opportunity to have a substantial influence on the shape and delivery of the participant journey.
You will bring experience in building strong partnerships with both stakeholders and employers. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to develop and maintain effective relationships across a wide range of partners — including other GCC teams, welfare-to-work providers, and employers — with the goal of enhancing skills, expanding knowledge, and increasing employment opportunities for participants.
Experience of working with a fidelity model e.g.: supported employment (SEQF) or Individual Placement and Support (IPS) is desirable but not essential as full training will be given. You must be customer focussed and ideally have knowledge of employment policies, procedures and welfare services; including the ability to develop your understanding of local labour-market demographics; enabling you to work with local employers to match their needs to the abilities of individuals.
