The service you will work in….

Twining-Hestia supports people across London with mental health challenges to find and sustain work, using the internationally recognized Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach.

We are now looking to recruit a number of professional and self-motivated Employment Specialists to join our dynamic and high performing team in Haringey. You will provide an employment support service to help people with mental health conditions gain and sustain paid employment.

A day in this role looks like….

As a Employment Specialist at Twining-Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Employment Services team. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

  • Engage and support clients with mental health issues to build trusting relationships, assess employment needs, and create tailored employment plans to help them secure and maintain work, in line with IPS targets and fidelity.
  • Deliver practical services such as career guidance, CV preparation, job searching, interview skills, and work coaching, while facilitating access to expert financial advice and providing support to employed clients to help them progress in work.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers, conduct weekly employer engagement activities, and collaborate with community partners to raise awareness of employment and mental health issues, ensuring a steady flow of referrals.
  • Maintain accurate records of client activity and outcomes, update NHS databases, attend team meetings, comply with policies and procedures, and contribute to the development of a responsive service for diverse and disadvantaged communities.

We are looking for candidates who bring a combination of passion, expertise, and dedication to the table. To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Experience and understanding of supporting individuals with mental health conditions to find, return to, and retain mainstream employment, with a strong commitment to the IPS model of employment support and retention.
  • Knowledge of health or social care settings, with excellent interpersonal skills to engage with clients and external stakeholders, and the ability to present confidently at various levels.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, including effective diary management, task prioritization, and accurate record-keeping in an outcome-driven environment.
  • Proficient in IT and communication, with excellent computer skills, including database use and Microsoft packages, and the ability to think creatively to provide solutions for clients and build local partnerships.
  • Positive, professional, and empathetic, committed to equality, diversity, and promoting mental health through employment, while being proactive in personal development and well-being.
