Job description

Employment Solicitor / Legal Executive – 3 to 5+ PQE
Telford (Hybrid – 1 Day WFH) | Full-Time | Permanent

An outstanding opportunity has arisen with a well-regarded regional law firm, known for its strong presence in the employment law space and its progressive, people-centred culture. The firm is looking to welcome a talented and commercially minded Employment Solicitor or Legal Executive (3–5+ years’ PQE) to join its expanding team in Telford.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out:
  • Competitive salary tailored to experience
  • Hybrid working – 1 day a week from home
  • 34 days’ annual leave (including bank holidays and a Christmas shutdown), with additional service days
  • Paid practising certificate
  • Health cash plan and company pension
  • Free on-site parking
  • Discounted legal fees for staff
  • Clear route for career development – including the chance to take ownership of a growing contentious caseload
  • A warm, collegiate working environment with a genuine focus on staff wellbeing
About the Role:
This is a hands-on, client-facing role within a well-resourced employment team. You’ll advise an established portfolio of retained business clients – typically SMEs across professional sectors such as independent schools, care homes, and GP practices.

Roughly 25–30% of the role will involve managing a diverse Employment Tribunal caseload, primarily defending claims on behalf of employers. The remaining portion focuses on proactive HR and employment law advisory work, supporting businesses subscribed to the firm’s nationally recognised Alpha HR service. This includes:
  • Providing commercial, solutions-led advice on day-to-day HR and employee relations issues
  • Drafting bespoke contracts, policies, and HR documentation
  • Attending client premises (e.g., co-chairing disciplinary and grievance hearings)
  • Delivering employment law training for managers
Who They're Looking For:
The successful candidate will bring:
  • A solid track record of handling Employment Tribunal matters
  • Experience advising employer clients on a retained or regular basis
  • The confidence to build rapport with a variety of clients and to deliver pragmatic, clear advice
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • A detail-focused, proactive approach, and a talent for thinking commercially
Additional experience delivering HR/employment training is welcomed, though not essential. Due to the client-facing nature of the role, a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle are required.

This is a brilliant role for someone looking to join a forward-thinking firm, take ownership of high-quality work, and build long-term client relationships in a supportive, team-driven environment.
