Reed is seeking an Employment Associate (2-4 PQE) for its Cheltenham office. You will advise a diverse client base in the UK and internationally, handling both transactional and contentious employment work within an international law firm.

Employment Associate (2-4 PQE)

Join the dynamic Employment team at our clients firm, where you will advise a diverse range of clients including businesses, senior executives, and entrepreneurs, both in the UK and internationally. This role offers a varied and high-quality workload, providing an excellent opportunity for professional growth within an international law firm known for its sophisticated client base.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide comprehensive advice on employment documentation, policies, disciplinary and grievances, family-friendly issues, redundancy processes, and GDPR.
  • Handle employment tribunal litigation, including drafting Grounds of Resistance and Particulars of Claim, attending Preliminary Hearings, and managing case steps.
  • Conduct due diligence on transactions, advising on "red flag" issues, drafting warranties and indemnities, and advising on TUPE.
  • Advise senior executives on maximising severance terms upon exit.
  • Address all aspects of employment and partnership disputes.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory obligations, including the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Standards and Regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong drafting skills for both non-contentious and contentious work.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting employment tribunal proceedings for both respondents and claimants.
  • Familiarity with employment data protection and privacy issues, including Data Subject Access Requests.
  • Ability to contribute to business development initiatives, such as article writing and networking event participation.
  • Experienced in advising on transactions from both buyer and seller perspectives, and in all aspects of TUPE.
  • Expertise in dealing with employment status issues, including worker status and drafting contracts for services.
  • Experience in managing grievances, performance issues, and disciplinary matters.
  • Understanding of dismissals in the financial services industry and relevant regulatory issues is desirable.
  • Ability to present employment training to peers and clients.
  • Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales (or equivalent) with 2-4 years' PQE.
