Jefferies is looking to hire an employment lawyer ( years PQE), with in-house experience in a fast-paced financial services environment (preferably investment banking) and/or experience in private practice at a leading firm with a substantial focus on advising a financial institution client-base. International experience is required as responsibilities will include supporting legal and HR issues arising in EMEA and Asia jurisdictions in which the business operates. This Vice President-level role will be based in Jefferies’ London Office and will work closely with senior employment lawyers in the team as well as HR, Compliance to support senior management across corporate and front office business lines.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and growing business and the ideal candidate will have hands-on experience advising on all aspects of the employment lifecycle in a regulated organisation in EMEA and Asia, in particular:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating employment documents;
  • Drafting, reviewing and updating employment handbooks, policies and procedures;
  • Advising on day-to-day employment issues such as disciplinary processes, performance management, grievance processes and preventative management as well as remuneration and benefits structures and entitlements;
  • Supporting investigations and responses to regulatory enquiries;
  • Advising on privacy and personal data matters;
  • Developing and sharing know-how;
  • Developing and delivering employment law-related training to HR and managers;
  • Supporting production of Employment Legal aspects of presentations and reports for management

In addition, the candidate should:

  • have a working knowledge of employment law, human resources and regulatory landscapes in EMEA and Asia;
  • be efficient at managing and prioritising a varied workload for a number of different stakeholders;
  • have a highly collaborative outlook, working in partnership with other control functions and business units; and
  • have experience of dealing with senior business managers.
