Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to the Human Resources department and business leaders regarding all aspects of the employment life cycle in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
- Draft and revise employment law-related documentation, such as contracts and other employment-related agreements.
- Assist with drafting and development of employment policies.
- Develop strategies for responding to legal claims and threats of litigation in conjunction with senior legal counsel, including assisting with fact development in pre-litigation and litigation matters.
- Respond to audits and legal information requests.
- Litigate on behalf of the company and coordinate litigation and legal matters with outside counsel.
- Assist with due diligence in mergers and acquisitions and advise on employment issues arising from such corporate activities.
- Develop and deliver training on employment law compliance.
- Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
- Collaborate with external counsel in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia when required.
Qualifications:
- Law degree from a reputable university (or UK law school) with excellent academics.
- Qualified solicitor in England and Wales (or equivalent European jurisdiction).
- Right to work in the UK.
- At least 7 years’ PQE, including 2 years at a top law firm.
- Experience with European employment laws, especially in France, Germany, and Spain, including working with works councils or employee representatives.
- Experience with employment laws in the Middle East and Asia (UAE, China, Singapore, Australia) is desirable but not required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- Organizational and interpersonal skills, with adaptability to changing workload.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Proactive, decisive, independent, and good judgment.
- Fluency or advanced skills in French or German are highly desirable but not required.
