Brief

We are looking to expand our team and have several opportunities for Employment Associates with 2 to 7 years PQE to join the Employment & Reward Group. We are open to candidates for any of our UK offices.

Background

Our Employment & Reward Group is recognized as one of the best and most experienced teams in the country. We have a well-resourced team of employment specialists offering both national coverage from our UK offices and international services through our specialists in Europe, the Gulf, Asia Pacific, and Australia.

We act as trusted advisors to leading FTSE blue-chip organizations both in the UK and internationally. Our clients rely on us for technical legal advice and as true business partners, understanding their sector-specific challenges and opportunities.

We pride ourselves on being confident, commercially aware, pragmatic, and responsive. We provide innovative commercial solutions, helping clients navigate challenges and achieve strategic objectives without employment law issues hindering workforce management. This approach has fostered long-term relationships with many household-name companies.

Our work includes handling cutting-edge claims, projects, and corporate transactions for blue-chip corporates and financial institutions, often involving international collaboration. We advise on cross-border information and consultation, benefit redesign, global mobility, and executive employment issues such as recruitment, termination, compensation, bonus claims, team moves, and restrictive covenants. We also engage in strategic projects like global change management, reward philosophy, and gender pay gap audits.

The team aims to grow further, making this an excellent opportunity for Associate lawyers seeking career progression.

The Team

The team serves a diverse clientele, from local and national businesses to international corporations, focusing on business change projects, corporate deals, and employment litigation. In the UK, the team comprises over 60 employment lawyers across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast, Leeds, Birmingham, and London. The successful candidate will work with the wider UK team and be based in Birmingham.

The Candidates Required

Candidates should have at least two years of employment law experience in a commercial practice, with strong technical and market knowledge. Experience in strategic employment advice, complex tribunal claims, cross-border issues, restructuring, redundancy, senior-level grievances, discrimination, whistleblowing, and high-value litigation is preferred. An interest in M&A and outsourcing work is advantageous.

Applicants must have a strong academic background, be technically proficient, commercially aware, and understand how a large international firm operates. Excellent communication skills, teamwork, and a desire to contribute to team growth and cross-office initiatives are essential.

What We Offer
  • A market-leading, dynamic, and growing global team delivering outstanding client results.
  • Investment in our team through top-tier training, career development, regular reviews, and sector-specific knowledge enhancement.
  • Early responsibility and opportunities to develop client relationships.
