An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated lawyer to join our experienced legal team.
We are ideally seeking to appoint a qualified solicitor but would also welcome applications from a lawyer who may be less experienced and working towards qualification.
Applications are encouraged from experienced senior practitioners as well as those working towards legal qualifications.
This is a Career Grade Role that offers opportunities for both experienced professionals and trainees. The level at which you join will reflect your current skills.
Depending on your experience and qualifications, you will join at grade 9, 10, or 11 within our structure. You will be supported to progress through the grades, with the aim of ultimately becoming a Grade 11 senior lawyer. Details of the experience and qualifications required for each grade are provided in the attached job descriptions.
You will primarily provide advice and support to the Council’s Human Resources, equalities, and information governance teams. Additionally, as a lawyer in the litigation team, particularly within the equalities aspect, you will advise multiple client teams on issues related to housing and prosecutions.
You will be part of a team providing legal advice on varied and complex employment, information governance, and equality issues, reflecting the diversity of employee roles within the council.
You will also support the wider litigation team with straightforward civil and criminal matters.
As part of the legal service, you will play a key role in implementing the Council Plan and driving change.
If you are an ambitious, innovative solicitor, barrister, or CILEX fellow (authorized to undertake reserved legal activities in relevant fields), or working towards these qualifications, and if you have an interest and ideally experience in civil or criminal litigation, employment, information, and equality law, this role could be an excellent next step in your career.
