Job summary

BCL Legal in London is seeking an Employment Associate at newly qualified level (1 PQE) to join a leading Legal 500 Employment boutique. You will work with a dedicated team across advisory matters and some contentious work for major clients.

The role offers a market-leading salary of £102,000, 25 days annual leave, a bonus scheme, enhanced maternity/paternity pay and a cycle to work scheme. You should have strong academics and eligibility to practice in England & Wales.

Qualifications

• Applications from trainee solicitors, or newly qualified solicitors, with up to 1 year qualification experience in England & Wales.
• Strong academics and a confident understanding of employment law.

Responsibilities

• Advising on contracts, TUPE and redundancies.
• Some contentious work including tribunals and workplace investigations.
• Opportunity to handle high court litigation in due course.

The firm / team:

• Successful candidates can look forward to joining one of the most specialised Employment departments in the UK, looking to strengthen their Employment offering with the addition of a junior Associate to their international team.
• They are considered to be arguably the leading boutique law firm in the UK for Employment law, ranked in the top tiers of the Legal 500 for their Employment (Employer/Respondent) law offering.
• You will be joining a large and specialised team, working across various jurisdictions, and various areas of employment law, covering respondent work with some transactional components.
• This is a hardworking firm, offering a market-leading salary with a reasonable chargeable hours contribution of 1200.

The role:

• As an Employment Associate within the team, you can expect to undertake a broad range of work with a supportive collegiate department.
• The firm are looking for someone capable of developing into a trusted advisor to their biggest clients.
• The work involved will include advising predominantly on advisory matters, such as contracts, TUPE, and redundancies, with some contentious work, including tribunals, workplace investigations, and high court litigation.

About you:

• Applications are sought from talented trainee solicitors, or newly qualified solicitors, with up to one years qualification experience, gained in England & Wales or a similar, leading common law jurisdiction.
• You will possess strong academics, and a confident understanding of employment law, ideally from a Top 30/Legal 500 background.
• Candidates should have strong organisation skills and a keen interest in joining one of the UK's leading Employment law firms.
