Location: Surrey Wide

The post holder will be responsible to the designated supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Understanding of Needs: Develop strong professional relationships with young people who have social emotion, mental health needs, neurodiversity, learning disability, and anxiety, and who have often experienced significant difficulties in education settings.
  • Following the guidance in each person’s individual plan/risk assessment, support them to manage their anxiety and behaviour in a positive way and to keep them and others safe.
  • Utilize a range of strategies in supporting the range of additional needs.
  • Be able to work flexibly and manage last-minute changes.
Planning and Delivery
  • Supporting children and young people to follow life skill learning activities.
  • Planning and preparing creative and interest-based activities.
  • Supporting young people to engage in the local community and undertake work experience, such as mountain biking, walking, rock climbing, etc.
  • Working with other professionals involved with the young person (SEND, Teachers, OT, SALT) to deliver activities to meet young people’s EHCP goals/targets.
Assessment and Paperwork
  • Documenting young people’s progress using photographs/videos and written reports.
  • Completing the relevant sections of our monitoring system, Log my Care.
Communication
  • Communicating frequently and effectively with colleagues and families about the needs of the young people and regularly reviewing your strategies and practice as these needs change.
  • Attending half-termly progress meetings with Case Officers/School to discuss next steps.

The duties and responsibilities are difficult to define in detail and may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or level of responsibilities entailed.

Due to the nature of this position, any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory checking report from the Disclosure and Barring Service at an enhanced level as well as receipt of, at least, two recent satisfactory professional references.

Pay: £12.50-£16.50 per hour. Mileage Expenses: Over 20 miles travelled per week can be claimed at 0.45p per mile. All mileage can be claimed for miles travelled with a client in the car, e.g., work experience, trips out.
