Job description

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Employment Advisor to join our delivery team, supporting individuals across Newcastle, South Shields, and surrounding areas (with occasional travel further afield if required).

This is a community-based role, where you will spend the majority of your working week meeting participants face to face in the community. Your main base will be your home, but you should expect regular travel across Newcastle, South Shields, and nearby areas—so access to a car is essential. All travel costs will be covered by Offploy.

You will provide personalised support to people facing significant barriers to employment—including those subject to MAPPA—helping them overcome challenges, build confidence, and access training, volunteering, or employment opportunities.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Managing a varied caseload of individuals with multiple and complex barriers to work
  • Supporting people subject to MAPPA through sensitive, tailored guidance and mentoring
  • Delivering 1:1 in-person support across community locations in Southampton and surrounding areas
  • Helping participants access relevant services (e.g. mental health, housing, training, addiction support)
  • Building trusted relationships and maintaining professional boundaries
  • Working closely with referral partners, including probation and other agencies
  • Recording accurate notes, tracking progress, and meeting KPIs
  • Travelling within and occasionally beyond the region to meet clients and stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience supporting individuals facing significant social, emotional, or legal barriers
  • Background in employment support, advice and guidance, criminal justice, or other.
  • Understanding of risk management and professional boundaries, particularly when working with MAPPA individuals
  • Empathy, resilience, and a problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly across different locations
  • Strong communication, record-keeping, and IT skills
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is highly desirable
What We Offer
  • 27 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Flexible working hours
  • Hybrid working (community-based with some home working)
  • Company pension
  • Health & wellbeing programme
  • Life insurance (death-in-service cover)
  • Employee discounts and team events
  • A chance to directly impact lives and build safer communities
This exciting role will be mainly face to face delivery and therefore you must be willing to travel across Newcastle, South Shields and surrounding areas. However, there will also be the opportunity to work from home.
