Location: Bristol and South Gloucestershire

Time Commitment: Flexible

Ready, Willing & Able is SeeAbility’s supported employment programme. Our programme supports people with learning disabilities and autism to achieve their employment ambitions. We support people to seek and secure paid employment. We work with employers to ensure inclusive recruitment practices that offer people with learning disabilities and autism the best opportunity to showcase their talents and skills. We work alongside both our participants and employers to support our participants in the workplace.

Our programme is seeking employers in the Bristol and South Gloucestershire area who are committed to developing truly inclusive workspaces and are open to offering paid employment opportunities for the participants on our programme. Your volunteer role will be to engage and convert employers into partners for the programme, supporting our coaches in driving engagement with potential employers and increasing awareness of employing people with learning disabilities and autism.

Your role

We are looking for an Employer Engagement Volunteer who will share our values, embrace the notion of a diverse workforce, and is passionate about inclusion. That person will share our belief that paid work is positive and possible for everyone and will work to source new opportunities from a wide range of employers from various sectors.

You will also:

  • Proactively seek employers who may be open to employing participants on our programme or partnering with us to create inclusive workplaces for people with learning disabilities and autism.
  • Engage directly with employers about the benefits of employing people with learning disabilities and autism.
  • Work with supported employment coaches to cultivate those relationships so participants can be placed in paid employment with these organisations.

Skills required

  • A knowledge of the local job market in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
  • The ability and confidence to ‘sell’ the benefits of supported employment to employers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and web searches.
  • Ability to use MS Teams and Zoom for video calls.
  • Reliability and consistency.

Please note that you will need to be over the age of 18 to apply for this role. To ensure the safety of the people we support, a DBS check and two satisfactory references will be required before confirming a volunteer role. Since you will be volunteering directly with vulnerable individuals, safeguarding training and role-specific training will also be necessary.

About us

At SeeAbility, we support people with learning disabilities and autism, who may also have sight loss, to achieve their goals every day.

We encourage people with disabilities to challenge societal expectations and their own limitations.

Registered as The Royal School for the Blind, SeeAbility is one of the UK's oldest disability charities, pioneering support for over 220 years.

Our Benefits

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a direct impact on others’ lives.

You will learn about our charity, the supported employment programme, and the benefits of inclusive employment. SeeAbility also offers training to help develop new skills.

Volunteers can claim travel expenses.
