Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist in the UK to provide high-quality support on employee relations matters and partner with leaders on performance management. You will develop progressive people policies aligned with Ofcom brand and employment law, and collaborate with unions and People teams.

You will independently lead complex cases through investigations, disciplinary, grievance, and redundancy processes while ensuring GDPR compliance and effective stakeholder

Job description

• Provide empathetic, factual, high-quality, risk-focused expert support on employee relations matters
• Support, coach, and partner with leaders on career and performance management
• Maintain and develop progressive people policies in line with Ofcom’s brand, employment legislation, and industry best practice
• Consult, engage, and collaborate with Prospect Union, Colleague Forum, Colleague Networks, and other People, Culture and Workplace teams
• Provide proactive case management across employee relations policy areas
• Independently lead employee relations cases through investigation, disciplinary, grievance, redundancy, appeal, and employment litigation stages
• Collaborate with People Services teams to resolve queries through case management and wider systems
• Support complex case management, wider engagement work, and transformation projects
• Partner with organisational stakeholders on people projects
• Lead employment-law workstreams for restructuring, TUPE, and culture-change initiatives
• Develop training materials and communications plans
• Review, develop, create, and administer People Policies
• Support union, Colleague Forum, and Network engagements
• Store, process, and use documentation in compliance with GDPR

Requirements

• Ability to work at pace, with flexibility, combining proactive planning with reactive work
• Experience in an environment with structured governance processes and protocols
• Experience working with and influencing multiple stakeholders
• Ability to respond to conflict using an early resolution mindset
• Exceptional organisation, communication, stakeholder management, and customer service skills
• Ability to work effectively with immediate team and internal and external stakeholders
• Experience advising and coaching colleagues, line managers, and senior stakeholders on all aspects of Employment Law
• Experience managing complex employee relations cases across all policy areas in a process- and risk-focused environment requiring precision, pace, and a solution-oriented approach
• Experience of people policy drafting and maintenance (desirable)
• Experience working in a unionised organisation (desirable)
• CIPD membership (advantageous, not required)
