Employee Relations Specialist

Your new company
Hays are working with a well-renowned organisation in Telford who are looking for an Employee Relations Specialist on a temporary basis. They are seeking a dynamic and experienced People Relations Specialist to join their team. This role is pivotal in supporting the People Relations activities within the business. You will use data-driven insights to continuously improve and upskill line managers in all Employee Relations (ER) matters.

Your new role

  1. Lead, mentor, and develop Site Management Teams in people relations.
  2. Efficiently triage and prioritise line manager queries and issues.
  3. Maintain positive relationships with regional Trade Union (TU) teams.
  4. Provide input to the policy review process, highlighting areas for change and development.
  5. Collaborate with the wider HR team to meet business needs in day-to-day case management and proactive actions.
  6. Manage employment tribunal and employment-related court claims, minimising financial and reputational impact.
  7. Build relationships with stakeholders to support all ER&P activities and requirements.
  8. Develop and deliver continuous training programs to upskill line managers in industrial and people relations matters.
  9. Report on people relations matters and metrics for various stakeholders.
  10. Support major business changes, such as TUPE transfers.

What you'll need to succeed

  1. Graduate, CIPD qualified or equivalent.
  2. Experience in disciplinary, grievance, and TU issues.
  3. HR project management and change management experience.
  4. Strong knowledge of ER/IR/TU arena and HR best practices.
  5. Business and commercial acumen.
  6. Ability to influence, be creative, and challenge norms.
  7. Coaching mindset and continuous improvement focus.
  8. Strong problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
  9. Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrix environment with senior stakeholders.
  10. Negotiation skills for TU negotiations and termination agreements.
  11. Project management skills.
