Job description

This is an opportunity to shape how employee relations, policy and advisory services support a fair, inclusive and supportive working environment, enabling colleagues across academic and professional services teams to deliver an excellent student experience. We are looking for an experienced Employee Relations, Policy and Advisory Lead to provide trusted professional leadership across complex employee relations matters, employment policy and people focused change. Based at Treforest, Pontypridd, you will play a visible role in strengthening confidence, consistency and good judgement in how people matters are managed across the University. Working closely with senior leaders, managers, colleagues in the People and Organisational Development Department and recognised Trade Unions, you will help develop practical, values-led approaches that support early resolution, effective decision-making and positive working relationships. You will lead a small, specialist employee relations and policy team to provide support and advice to managers, oversee complex and sensitive casework, and use insight from case activity to improve policy, practice, manager capability and organisational learning. You will bring significant experience of complex employee relations work, strong employment law knowledge, confidence working constructively in a unionised environment and an inclusive, collaborative leadership style. In return, you will have the opportunity to influence practice across a diverse University community and contribute to a People and OD service that is ambitious, supportive and focused on making a positive difference. This is a full-time, permanent post. For an informal conversation about this post please contact Tracy Owen, Acting Director of People and Organisational Development: tracy.owen@southwales.ac.uk
