Job summary

Spinwell Ltd is recruiting an Employee Relations Manager for a 2–3 month contract, hybrid role with 3 days on site in Croydon. You will lead the ER team, handle complex investigations and provide strategic HR advice to line managers in a public sector context.

The successful candidate will be CIPD-qualified with strong employment law knowledge, experience in complex, unionised organisations, and a track record of improving service delivery through process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Educated to Degree Level.
  • CIPD qualified and registered.
  • PG Certificate in Employment Law.
  • Extensive experience of providing expert advice on Employee Relations in large complex unionised organisations.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of employee relations training.
  • Experience of managing teams.
  • Experience of managing highly complex investigations.
  • Experience of policy development and implementation.
  • Proven ability to improve service delivery through innovative solutions and process optimisation.
  • NHS experience.
  • Knowledge of ER best practice.
  • Ability to gain the confidence of and influence people at all levels and in situations where hostility or resistance may be encountered.
  • Good IT skills including word/excel/PowerPoint.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment law and its application in Employee Relations.
  • Excellent written and communication skills- able to communicate with a wide range of people on complex issues.
  • Familiar with HR systems and producing reports.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Head of Employee Relations to ensure ER service is proactive, highly professional and efficient and that investigations are completed within required timeframes.
  • This role will have day-to-day responsibility for supporting the Trust to deliver restorative approaches to people practices by making informal resolution the new way of resolving conflict between parties.
  • Coordinate and monitor all employee relations activity to ensure fair and transparent processes.
  • Provide advice and support to line managers on a range of HR management issues.
  • Develop the skill and capacity of managers to empower them to manage people issues effectively and independently.
  • Hold own caseload including complex cases and hearings.
  • Support the Head of ER to produce KPI reports for HR and monitor ER cases.
  • Identify improvements and interventions to improve staff experience and reduce negative impact of formal processes.

Role: Employee Relations Manager
Contract Length: 2-3 months

Pay Rate to Intermediary: Up to £30.30 per hour

Spinwell is recruiting for an Employee Relations Manager for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE EMPLOYEE RELATIONS MANAGER

The purpose of this role is to work closely with the Head of Employee Relations to ensure that the Employee Relations(ER) team provide a proactive, highly professional and efficient ER service and that all investigations are undertaken to a high standard and completed within required timeframes. This role will have a day to day responsibility for supporting the Trust to deliver against their restorative approaches to people practices by making informal resolution the new way of resolving conflict between parties.

This individual will be responsible for managing the Employee Relations team by coordinating and monitoring all employee relations (excluding medical and dental) activity to ensure a fair and transparent process is followed for all in a consistent way.

The role will provide advice and support to line managers on a range of human resource management issues. A key function of the role is to develop the skill and capacity of managers to empower them to manage people issues effectively and independently. The post-holder will also hold their own caseload to include complex cases and hearings. The post holder will ensure that the ER team plan, prioritise and manage competing workloads and deadlines to ensure all ER cases are completed in a consistent and timely manner and in accordance with Trust policies and employment legislation.

The post holder will support the Head of ER to produce KPI reports on behalf of the HR department in relation to complex employee relations cases, ensuring regular monitoring takes place against all ER cases. They will also facilitate any necessary improvements and identify potential positive interventions that can be introduced to improve the overall staff experience and reduce the negative impact formal processes can have on individuals where no case to answer is the outcome.
