Job Description

  • Lead the design and rollout of employment policies that are clear, compliant, and easy to use.
  • Provide expert guidance on employee relations, helping managers navigate complex situations with confidence.
  • Collaborate with HR teams and leaders to embed people practices into everyday operations.
  • Use data and feedback to spot trends, improve processes, and shape future policy direction.
  • Deliver training and resources that build understanding and capability across the organisation.
  • Stay ahead of legal and workplace trends to ensure policies remain relevant and effective.
  • Support a culture of fairness, accountability, and continuous improvement in all things HR.
  • Manage a team of uo to five people


The Successful Applicant

  • Have a strong background in HR policy and employee relations, ideally in a complex or unionised setting.
  • Know how to turn legal requirements into practical, people-friendly guidance.
  • Are confident managing sensitive issues and providing strategic advice to senior leaders.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively and building strong relationships across teams.
  • Are analytical, organised, and always looking for ways to improve how things are done.
  • Hold a relevant qualification (e.g. CIPD) or have equivalent experience.
  • Has managed a small or large team before

  • A competitive salary circa £46000
  • 26 days annual leave, rising to 30 days between 2 - 5 years' service and 33 days after 5 years' service (plus bank holidays)
