Job description

Care Plus Employability Services deliver two strands under one service - Employability and Supported Employment.

Employability supports the worklessness agenda of Northern Lincolnshire, delivering a holistic approach to supporting unemployed people on a pathway to sustainable employment. They deliver various employability initiatives including voluntary work based learning, apprenticeships, and intermediate labour market opportunities. They aim to empower local people to become socially included within their communities, whilst also breaking down barriers to employment.

Supported Employment is a work-based employment team that provides a flexible service based on individual needs. Supported Employment supports people with learning and physical disabilities to access employment in both paid and voluntary work by partnership working with other organisations and employers within the public, private and third sector.

Job title: Employability Support Officer

Base: Val Waterhouse Centre

37.5 hours per week

Fixed Term for 18 months

Salary Range 4 - £24,645 - £27,202 per annum - you will be appointed on a fixed salary point within the range.

Are you passionate about supporting people; empathic to the barriers they may face; and have the ability to motivate others, helping them to realise their aspirations?

You will support the worklessness agenda by predominantly supporting Care Experienced young people to access training and employment opportunities within Industry. Enabling Participants to progress and overcome barriers to the world of work and holistically supporting those who may present as long-term unemployed, have learning and physical disabilities, experiencing mental health issues etc.

You will assist in developing the Employability voluntary project, apprenticeship scheme, work experience, Intermediate Labour Market project and any other Employability related projects, ensuring participants are supported along the correct pathway tailored to their individual needs.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Information and Guidance Level 3 or experience of the employment sector.
  • Evidence of continual professional development.
  • Maths and English at minimum level 2.
  • Information and Guidance Level 4.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge and understanding in the delivery of employment initiatives including employability and apprenticeships.
  • Knowledge of Individual Learning Plans and outcomes.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in partnership with other agencies and professionals.
  • Effective customer care skills.
  • Knowledge/experience of the Work Programme and other DWP contracts.
Experience
  • 2 years experience and knowledge of work-based education and training.
  • OR equivalent experience in working with a range of people with barriers to employment, e.g. lone parents, long term unemployed and those with mental health and physical disabilities.
