Job summary

Dovetail and Slate is seeking a Learning Support Key Worker (Pastoral/SEMH) to provide targeted support across our regional campuses. This role focuses on attendance, small-group interventions, and behaviour management to keep students engaged in education.

You will work as part of a centralised pastoral network, supporting up to 50 learners with EHCPs and SEMH needs. A crucial, relationship-based role that requires empathy, resilience, and a commitment to safeguarding.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent Level 2 standard). A Level 3+ qualification in education, youth work, or a related field is essential.
• Proven experience in a school, college, PRU, or alternative provision setting. Roles like HLTA, Pastoral Mentor, or Progress Coach are a strong fit.
• Ability to obtain a satisfactory Enhanced DBS disclosure with barred list checks.

Responsibilities

• Act as a central, consistent contact point for up to 50 vulnerable learners, building high-trust relationships.
• Implement de-escalation, trauma-informed practices, and targeted small-group sessions to address barriers to learning.
• Develop individual support plans and chair annual EHCP reviews with progress tracking.
