Job description

Emotional Learning Support Assistant (ELSA)

Pay Scale NJC 5-6

Start Date: As soon as possible

Working Hours – 35 hours per week (30 minutes for lunch)

8.00am – 3.30pm Monday to Friday

Term Time plus one week to cover Teaching Education Days

We are seeking an Emotional Learning Support Assistant to join our Internal Alternative Provision Team. The successful candidate will work as part of a team of ELSAs, and provision leads being responsible to the Internal Alternative Provision Director and Pastoral Deputy Headteacher.

The candidate will be dynamic, able to think on their feet, proactive, skilled at multi-tasking and a confident communicator. You will have the drive to ensure that every student at Bishop Perowne is safe and supported to reach their full potential by identifying and removing any barriers to learning. Some of our students find the daily challenges of school more difficult than others and we are looking for a colleague who has the skills, ideas and strategies to support them.

Ongoing training and professional development is given.

Previous experience of working with Secondary School students or within an alternative provision is preferred but not necessary, as the right candidate for our students is paramount. Good levels of literacy and numeracy are essential, together with a commitment to equal opportunities, flexibility, discretion and a willingness to support our students.
